charlotte's oldest LGBTQ+ nightclub by qnotes' reckoning, opened in 1968 and still carrying the scorpio name. the freedom drive original closed on halloween 2023, then the club came back in south end the following august with a stage, a veranda, a parlor and a rooftop. apparently one dance floor was not enough.
