"Utah's Most Iconic Gay Bar" by its own about page, and the lineage backs the swagger: joe redburn founded the sun tavern in 1973 and the about page calls him a trailblazer who turned the bar into a sanctuary. closed halloween 2025 in a union fight, reopened that december as what qsaltlake called the only bar in utah with union representation. "voted utah's #1 gay bar," says the site, and nobody's arguing.
